AutoCAD or IDEAS?

Over here, everyone from interior designers to architects use AutoCAD. But for multi national corporations, they prefer very expensive CAD package such as IDEAS for their system.

I wonder is there any difference in the performance of the two packages. Aren't they the same? Or it is AutoCAD is more suitable for building industry while the IDEAS is more suited for electronic as well as mechanical design in consumer products?
