Question Description
You are a new Chief of Police in a new department. You replaced a Chief who had been there for 30 years. When you were hired, the Mayor told you that he really liked your enthusiasm and hopes you can turn the department around! Your initial investigation into the department shows a department that is mostly reactive and incorporates very little community policing. The officers you’ve spoken to mention that they’ve ran out of motivation to be proactive and are looking for new jobs due to the lack of advancement opportunities.
Considering this scenario, write a well-crafted paper addressing the following:
Analyze the affect that workplace culture has on the organization as a whole.
How might you address the motivation and morale concerns at the police department?
What resources would you want to help provide motivation and support to your officers?
Do you have any personal experiences with low motivation and morale? What contributed to this and what, if anything, helped to mitigate it?
