After you have determined the author’s thesis and are able to recognize the main ideas and supporting details, you should prepare a brief outline to help you write the summary. Be sure to begin your summary with the author’s thesis and to give the author credit for his ideas throughout, by using the author’s name. You do not have to cite the page numbers for this first assignment. Please pay attention to coherence, word choice, and sentence length and structure AND read the rubric below which explains how I will grade this summary.
Please do not write about your opinion or point of view or use direct quotes when writing your summary.
LENGTH: Your summary should be approximately 1-2 pages, double spaced, one paragraph, using one inch margins.
