Assignment Instructions:
Your written paper should cover the following components:
Provide an introduction: Explain the importance of theories in clinical social work practice.
From what you have learned this semester: please identify, discuss and analyze 2 evidenced-based theories that you favor. Please use references in this section to support your responses. Include the following:
Explain the reasons you have chosen these theories to incorporate into your own practice. Please make sure you include an overview on the major principles/techniques from these theories.
What are the strengths and limitations of these two theories? Discuss each theory separately.
Describe the populations/problems that research indicates can benefit from the use of these theories.
Develop your own theory by building off aspects of the evidence-based theories that you selected (i.e., from the 2 you chose) *and* then forming your *own* theory. In other words, you will take aspects of the existing theories that you feel comfortable with, and create your *own* theory. Make sure your theory is an integration of techniques/principles from these other theories while ensuring that you put your own twist into your new and unique theory. Please include references in this section. In order to complete this step 3, do the following:
Give your theory a name.
Identify and describe the techniques from other theories you would use in your own theory.
Identify and describe new techniques that you would develop as part of your new theory.
Describe who would you use this theory with (i.e. population, problem, etc.).
Describe the strengths and limitations of your new theory.
Conclusion section: end the paper with a clear summary of your work.
Paper Length:
The paper should not exceed five (5) pages in length, not including the cover / reference pages. You will not lose points for including cover or reference pages.
In other words, the cover and reference pages will not count toward the maximum page count limit for this assignment. You will not lose points for including a cover page and a references pages. Students will lose 5 points for longer papers.
