Topic: Cyber Security, Privacy – Healthcare data breaches
Reports should be no more than three (3) pages, double spaced, one (2) margin all around, 12 pt. font.
The purpose of the project is to identify and research emerging Innovation and Technology areas and apply the tools and concepts introduced in the class to evaluate the potential impact and opportunity of innovation and emerging new technology on an existing industry, including new ventures as well as established ventures.
Technologies that have already demonstrated technical feasibility are a potential starting point for this research project. Teams are encouraged to use library and other resources available on campus and externally to assess your Innovation and Emerging Technology topic. Internal resources include library material and faculty resources. The Internet, external experts, and other archival data (e.g., books, videos, and more.) can be very valuable in helping assess the viability, stage of development, and other aspect of the innovation and technology. The report and presentation should include the following three broad sections. Suggested questions and discussion points are provided:
Background:
Description of the innovation and technology topic in layman’s terms (technical terms may be used, but should be made clear);
The stage of development and the risks the innovation and/or technology face(s);
Description of the industry it will or could impact most heavily, direct and indirect competitors in that industry; HEALTHCARE
Discuss why healthcare is vulnerable and why its a target.
Discuss healthcare data breach; its consequences, role of implementing strong security and privacy measures.
Problem/Challenges Addressed:
Discussion of what users’ needs this product will address, the potential market size it will create, how this innovation/technology product is distinctive from, improves, or challenges existing options;
Discuss how cyberattacks affect healthcare and how are individuals affected by cyber attacks?
Objectives:
Identification of likely industry winners and losers and explain why; (such as medical pharmaceutical, private insurance, AI, etc
and finally,
Develop an entry strategy for this emerging innovation and technology.
