This assignment has two parts: 1) Analysis of the closed or partially close-ended questions fielded by your group; and, 2) Analysis of the qualitative/open-ended question fielded by your group.
For part 1, the quantitative analysis,U you will populate the analysis tables provided for a minimum of 10 analyses. You may also populate tables for additional analyses (up to 20 total, including the 10 required). Your final score will take into account the 10 best, most correctly structured and addressed analyses you run. You may conduct one frequency analysis, but the rest of your analyses should include the relationship between 2 or more variables. Analyses should focus on questions developed by your group and related demographic questions, though you may use responses to questions developed by other groups to explore an interesting analysis. You do not have to submit all analyses you attempt. Prioritize submission of analyses you think will be useful for the final presentation.
Answer all questions posed in the tables below. Expected responses are:
Variable(s) used: Include the variable names of the variables used, including any variable name generated by any recodes you created for use in this analysis
Descriptions of recode(s) and recode syntax, if applicable: Describe the recode conducted (e.g., reverse coding, median split, etc.) for those variables recoded for this analysis. Copy/paste the syntax for the recode. (You do not have to submit output checking that you recoded correctly, but you are highly encouraged to verify as I will run your code and check that your recode was done correctly.) If you did not recode a variable for the analysis presented in the table, respond N/A.
Type of analysis: Identify the type of analysis being performed (e.g., calculation of sample statistics, cross-tab, etc.)
Rationale for conducting this analysis: Explain why you chose to run this analysis
Syntax (copied from SAS): Copy/paste the syntax you used to run this analysis from SAS. Copy/paste only the syntax used (i.e., proc step).
Output/tables (copied form SAS): Copy/paste the output and/or tables included in the output from the analysis you conducted. Copy/paste only the relevant output. Do not include the information SAS generates about how long it took to run the statement, etc.
Description of findings: Provide a short summary of what you learned from the analysis you ran, including an interpretation of the output.
For part 2, the qualitative analysis, you will submit the codebook you developed while conducting your qualitative analysis. This codebook should include all components outlined in the Qualitative Analysis lecture. You will also submit a brief write-up of no more than 500 words where you explain your findings, including synthesis, where appropriate.
Main grading criteria for the individual portion of this assignment includes:
use of appropriate analysis commands;
logic of analyses conducted;
ability of instructor to cut and paste commands into SAS and run them without error;
summary of what was learned from the analyses;
qualitative findings.
