ENC1102 Tallahassee Community College Living Together Before Marriage Paper
Question Description
For this assignment, you are to write a position paper. The position paper requires you to establish a clear claim. You are to “draw a line in the sand” and state your position. In your introduction, you should establish the problem or the importance of the issue by providing some background information about the topic. Also, you should identify the people who are negatively impacted by this problem or issue.Towards the end of your introduction you should establish a clear claimyour position. As you make your argument, you should consider your opponent’s position, but your goal is to establish a claim and argue your point.
I do want you to research at least four (4) sources (i.e., articles from magazines, scholarly journals, edited collections, book chapters, official reports) for this assignment. Your sources should provide you with enough information about both sides of the argument. (NO WIKIPEDIA SOURCES!!)
Again, please include a Works Cited section at the end of the paper.
Because there are several ways you can introduce the opposition’s perspective in your essay, I will simply remind you to present the other side somewhere in your essay. It’s very important that you discuss what your opponent says about the issue. Now, you can do this in each ground section, you can present your opponent’s side in one paragraph after the introduction and proceed to argue your claim based on your grounds, or you can present your opponent’s side near the end of your essay and provide a rebuttal and closing remarks in your conclusion section.
My introduction so far is:
Couples Living Together Before Marriage Seems Backwards
A long curly hair found in a man’s wave brush is not the only issue when it comes to living with males, but there’s more. Can you imagine going to use the restroom midsleep and go to have a seat just to realize the seat is up? Unwed couples living together before the actual big day may be a deal breaker for some, a step too soon, or cause unnecessary drama. Although this has been going on for centuries, it still does not make a relationship any better. Many people feel that should be the next step to moving forward in their bond, but others feel otherwise.
A couple that has been together for years may believe that they know their significant other inside and out until they’ve moved in together. A few sleep overs just aren’t content for others, but any red flags should be very recognizable at this time. People stay with their mate so that they won’t suffer from missing them which makes my claim stand out. Living apart gives each other to miss one another and every interaction will be more genuine and cherish the bond.
