HUMN303 Week 5 Chamberlain College of Nursing Roots of Revolution
Doc & Class
When I personally think about the word “revolutions” and the true meaning behind it, i feel it represents the desire to achieve a goal. We can easily link this to America battling for freedom against Britain and its monarchy rule. America dint agree with the taxes that the British government was enforcing along with the laws that Americans had to obey. According to our text book, Peter Gay mentions this period of revolution as “freedom from arbitrary power, freedom of speech, freedom of trade, freedom to realize ones freedom of aesthetic response, freedom, in a word, of moral man to make his way in the world.”(Sayre,2013)
The period of time has made a huge difference in governmental structure along with culture. Revolution had simply brought change. The Change shaped the government, that helped and benefit the people, and provide a fair agreement for deciding a individual for position of power, and how this individual is elected.
When we observe the culture , the American and French Revolutions aftermath had made a more positive culture. Society felt accomplished after-all and the population of the people became more optimistic. It seems that the social changes that stayed in place continued to do so in the future. Our text book states that “ The social changed produced by theses two revolution strongly influenced world history, and would spur the nineteenth-century revolutions in South America, again in France and in 1848, at the end of the Age of Revolution, all across Europe.”(Sayre,2013.) I can see that societies had studied the past, and when they study that past they gained confidence to revolt against dictators or even controlling governments like “ Britains government” If the French or American people did not revolt and the Revolutions take place, then changed would haven never been taken into place.
If you look at it from a philosophical perspective, you can understand the philosophy behind it. According to Department of Philosophy, “Quite literally, the term “philosophy” means, “love of wisdom.” In a broad sense, philosophy is an activity people undertake when they seek to understand fundamental truths about themselves, the world in which they live, and their relationships to the world and to each other” (2019) Populations studies past revolutions, their actions correlate to the deffiniton of Philosophy, especially when the observe history with the nature of knowledge.
