Managed care organizations (MCO’s) were created to manage benefits and develop participating provider networks. Examples of MCO’s include:
Health Maintenance Organization (HMO)
Preferred Provider Organization (PPO)
Point-of-Service (POS)
Provider Service Organization (PSO)
Independent Practice Association (IPA)
Integrated Medical Group (IMG)
Instructions
Research the different types of MCO’s. Choose 3 to review in a PowerPoint presentation.
Discuss the key differences of each MCO model.
Discuss the impact of each of the models on the physician’s practice and on the provider’s reimbursement.
Your presentation should contain 8-10 slides, not including the title slide and reference slide.
Include speaker’s notes as a script of what you would say on each slide.
