SLCC Society for Technology in Education Developed Standards Discussion
Question Description
The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) has developed standards to help teachers focus on how to teach and give students practice in real-world skills. They are the standards for learning, teaching, and leading in the digital age and are widely recognized and adopted worldwide. They set a standard of excellence and best practices in learning and teaching with technology. The benefits of using the standards are:
Improving high-order thinking skills, such as problem solving, critical thinking, and creativity.
Preparing students for their future in a competitive global job market.
Designing student-centered, project based, and online learning environments.
Guiding systemic change in our schools to creative digital places of learning.
Teaching students life skills for the 21st century is more than using a computerit’s how you, the teacher, think about instruction and the kinds of tasks your students will complete. Please closely look at the attached International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) standards for teachers.
Using the ISTE teacher standards, please address each of the 5 standards and discuss how you plan to implement each one of these standards in the upcoming school year based on your content. Each standard should include a short discussion on how your instruction, planning, and student work will change from the previous year.
