BUS409 Strayer University Amazon Company Personal & Health Care Aides Paper
Question Description
One of the largest companies in the world, Amazon reported $232.9 billion in revenue in 2018. The average amount of a warehouse employee is $25,517 for a full-time salaried worker at Amazon, Salaries at Amazon.com Inc range from an average of $25,517 to $147,825 a year. Amazon.com Inc employees with the job title Chief Operating Officer (COO) make the most with an average annual salary of $231,759.
Then you have personal and health care aides. The job opportunities in this profession are expected to skyrocket by nearly 50 percent in the next 10 years, above and beyond the 630,000 people doing the work right now. There is a huge need to deal with escalating health problems. As a result, people need help if they’re going to remain at home. The work can be grueling and unpleasant, “such as emptying bedpans and changing soiled bed linens. The patients they care for may be disoriented, irritable, or uncooperative. Although their work can be emotionally demanding, many aides gain satisfaction from assisting those in need.” If only these physically demanding jobs paid a bit better, the average amount in pay is $9.75 an hour. Being that this is a high demanding job the average pay is extremely low when compared to a warehouse worker working for Amazon. Neither job requires for you to have a higher education aside from a high school diploma/GED yet the warehouse worker gets paid a lot higher. Amazon also has benefit packages for each of their employees and a personal care giver does not. I believe the difference in pay is not because of the job they are doing but the company they are working for. The larger the company, the more benefits and higher pay is able to be provided to each employee.
