Two environmental conditions in San Joaquin County are water quality and air pollution. Drinking water, used in houses across San Joaquin County is generally healthy to consume. However, there have been found to be issues with people, or pets, who access water, or eat fish, from the delta that winds through the County. The Delta, as well as other local lakes and streams, often suffers from harmful algae blooms. These algae blooms can affect water quality, aquatic life, and produce a bacteria that is harmful to people and animals. Residents are at risk for the algae blooms when they consume water, swim in, or eat fish from water that is contaminated. Symptoms include irritation to the ears, eyes, nose, skin and throat, paralysis or respiratory illness, abdominal pain, liver or kidney damage, drooling, diarrhea, tremors, vomiting, and lethargy (San Joaquin County, 2020).Air quality in San Joaquin County is caused by multiple different types of pollutants including farming operations, pesticides and fertilizers, petroleum productions, consumer products, on road mobile vehicles, off road mobile vehicles, fires, and other sources. San Joaquin Valley has been found to have some of the United States worse air quality. Health effects of air pollution can include mucous membrane irritation, coughing, wheezing, headache, nausea, fatigue, and chest pain. To combat the poor air quality, San Joaquin County has implemented rules that reduce emissions, transportation control, health protective programs, public education programs, and clean fuel programs (San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, 2020).Resources for finding information and solutions on environmental conditions often include county government websites, FEMA, the CDC, and Healthy People 2020.

Me: Contaminated water and polluted air are among the environmental conditions within the community surrounding the school that can negatively affect the health of the community population. In 2012, the World Health Organization (WHO) associated about 300,000 deaths to environmental causes. Poor quality of water places the community health at a higher risk, for instance, when groundwater sources, utilized for crop irrigation and drawing drinking water becomes contaminated, many people within the community are likely to be affected by water-borne diseases such as cholera and typhoid. 33% of the American population sources their drinking water from groundwater. Sources for contamination of groundwater include landfills, septic tanks, agricultural runoff and leakage of the underground storage tank with hazardous products.
Industries within the community produce various gases which are dangerous to the population health. The carbon monoxide (CO) produced by the industries during their production process has a very high affinity with hemoglobin which is risky for people healthy. CO poisoning symptoms may include dizziness, headache, nausea and sometimes consciousness loss. Sulphur dioxide leads to acid rains formation and soils acidification, with its end effect being harmful to human health (Ji, Gao, Maenhaut, He, Wang, Li, & Hu, 2019). Sulphur dioxide decreases the oxygen amount in water leading marine spices poisoning and deaths.
Locating data to support my observation would require I rely on researches by the World Health Organization on the impact of various environmental conditions on human health. Local environmental agencies and healthcare facilities can provide critical community health data related to environmental conditions. Community social workers conduct various researches which can be resourceful in drawing critical health data associated with various environmental conditions.

I agree with your point of view that environmental factors have a contribution in the community’s decrease in health. There is also an issue with pollution from the construction and dense exhaust which can cause the respiratory illness and some spark allergies.
I think pollution in the city is a big issue overall for health. Pollution also has an effect on the additional toxic residue to the vegetables and fruits on top of pesticides. Thoughts?
