Introduction
For this task, you will begin researching your topic. In the next section of the class, you will begin to outline an argument about this topic, so right now, it’s important for you to research both sides of the argument so you know which side you plan to argue. Aim to gather varied evidence for your side of the argument in this research assignment.
You are required to find at least four sources for this assignment. At least two of these sources must be academic articles (you can access them using the FTCC library, NC Live, or Google Scholar). You can use education or government websites (.edu or .gov) for your sources, as well, but no other websites (.com or .org) should be used. You are writing an academic paper, so you do not want to use news articles, blogs, or other sources that are less credible than works published in academic journals.
The Assignment
After you complete your research, craft a Works Cited page that notes each source you plan to use in your paper (at least four total).
On the second page of your document after the Works Cited page, please write a short narrative (3 paragraphs) detailing the following:
Paragraph 1: Describe your research process. How did you go about finding credible sources? What obstacles did you encounter? What characteristics did these sources have that made you choose them (as opposed to others)?
Paragraph 2: Describe what you learned about your topic. What is the most relevant information that you found?
Paragraph 3: Describe how you will use this research in your upcoming argument. How will this information support your claim? How will it help you refute counterarguments?
