Information about Digital Story Videos:
Digital Storytelling is the modern expression of the ancient art of storytelling. Throughout history, storytelling has been used to share knowledge, wisdom, and values. Stories have taken many different forms. Stories have been adapted to each successive medium that has emerged, from the circle of the campfire to the silver screen, and now the computer screen. ~ The Digital Storytelling Association
Digital stories are typically compelling short videos (about 5 minutes in length). In other words, a digital story is a short story told in a video format about the topic, an example in this case an older adult, physical activity, and successful aging.
What your Digital Story Video should include:
You are to select one of the weekly topics, or you may choose the topic of one of the modules.
You are then to develop a digital story based on that topic, how it impacts our society today, and how it may impact your career moving forward.
Your digital story video should be 5 minutes in length. View various examples of other digital stories to gain a greater appreciation for what the video may contain. Be sure to make your video compelling, but also related to the material (and academic-based) you have learned from the course, and it should be presented as a story (not a presentation).
Should you choose to interview or video another individual(s) which is not mandatory, just an option it is important to inform them that you will be interviewing/videoing them for the purposes of a project for this class. It is your responsibility to ensure that (where applicable):
1) They agree to be interviewed
2) They agree to be audio recorded
3) They agree to be video recorded
4) They agree to have audio/video footage of them presented in a video that will have a YouTube link (or the like) associated with it
