During their college years, more than half of college women are a victim of some form of sexual assault or sexual coercion. Anyone, male or female, can become a victim of rape or sexual assault. In fact, every 2 minutes someone in the US is sexually assaulted.
Rainn’s prevention & education efforts include working with the entertainment industry, the media, colleges & local communities to help increase awareness regarding issues related to sexual assault.
1. Visit rainn.org and write about something that you find there. Type 3 paragraphs about the articles, fact sheets or sections that you read. You must write at least 3 paragraphs in this section to get full credit!
2. Find a current news article or report about a rape/sexual assault. (It should be an article/report within the last 6 months to a year) Describe and discuss this case. Identify what type of Sexual Assault this was. Was it a stranger, acquaintance, date rape, or child sexual assault? Was it drug facilitated? What help or support was available? Write at least 1 paragraph.
3. Watch Gender Violence Prevention a Ted Talks Clip by Dr. Jackson Katz
