Unit 2 Summative Assessment: A Raisin in the Sun

Prompt
In looking at A Raisin in the Sun, analyze how Hansberry develops a character over the course of the text in order to reveal a particular theme. Within your thesis, you should consider the following:
· What: characters development over the course of the play (all three acts)
· How: the literary choices Hansberry makes to characterize that character
· Why: A particular theme (do not write a topic)
Things to consider:
A few topics that we discussed in regards to the text are dreams, pride/dignity, gender roles, race, discrimination, assimilation, wealth/poverty, family, sacrifice, and home. This is not a comprehensive list and you are welcome to discuss any other topic you think might relate. When you discuss the theme in your essay, remember that you should be arguing what the author is saying about one of these topics.
