Renewable energy includes solar, wind, geothermal energy, biomass, hydropower, hydroelectricity, nuclear power, tidal energy, and geothermal power. The most interesting renewable energy source to me is Tidal energy. It is a form of hydropower that converts energy collected from the tides and turns it into power. Its power is produced by the surge of the ocean waters during the rise and fall of the tides. Tidal energy is the most reliable source of renewable energy becauseof the continuouschange in tidal movements that occur twice a day from the moon’s gravitational force. It also has a higher energy density than some other renewable energies. It also does not produce greenhouse gases or any other kinds of waste.
“One of the major drivers for tidal stream power generation is combatting climate change by reducing the CO2 emissions by being: a 100% renewable, 100% reliable and 100% predictable energy source. Every kWh of power generated by “tidal’ saves ~1,000g CO2, compared to the same power generated by diesel.Beside a significant reduction of CO2 emissions, tidal energy also contributes to a reduction in the emission of all other types of greenhouse gas, such as methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O). These gases are released during the combustion of fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, and natural gas, to produce power.” (Unen 1)
Another one that I fine interesting is biomass energy. It is energy that is organic, meaning it is only made of materials that come from living organisms, such as plants and animals. The most common biomasses used today are plants, wood and waste. Most electricity generated from biomass isproduced by direct combustion.
“In 2020, biomass provided nearly 5 quadrillion British thermal units (Btu) andabout 5% of total primary energy usein the United States. The electric power sector uses wood and biomass-derived wastes to generate electricityfor sale to the other sectors” (Eia).

There are so many different kinds of renewable energy sources out in the world today. It is interesting to see how they are created and why they were created. Out of them all my favorite would have to be Tidal energy. It is interesting to see how waves can be a source of energy and how it has greatly impacted the environment!
